Siah Says So.
According to the powers that be, it’s National De-Lurking Week. (Well done, Kerri, finally catching up with this on a Friday.) Lurkers are known for their magical powers and distinctively repetitive IP addresses in one’s statcounter. They sometimes send very nice emails. They are also privy to their very own Wikipedia entry.
I Googled the hell out of this and can’t find out where this week stems from. Can anyone give me a head’s up on where National De-Lurking Week started?
Regardless of origin, Siah heard about this week. And she’s been standing in the kitchen every morning, staring at me while I assemble my snacks, asking me why I haven’t posted about it yet.
“Hey.” She pauses to lick her paw. “Hey! I would like some cat nip. And can you please clean the litter box? Or I’ll start sleeping on your chest again, with my claws just underneath your neck, making you all squirrelly. Come on, lady.”
I do her bidding, every time. She’s very convincing. And irresistibly cute.

So de-lurk, if the urge strikes you! (And also, remember to submit your Grand Rounds posts to me at kerri@sixuntilme.com by Sunday night at 5 pm EST.)
Have a good weekend!

De-lurking to say hello I have been reading this blog since day one.

I'm not really a lurker, but saying hello none the less.
Posted by: Megan | January 12, 2007 12:48 PM
I'm not new, nor do I really lurk, but hi anyway!
Posted by: mel | January 12, 2007 12:52 PM
Delurking cause Siah told me to do so.

love that pink collar. my cat won't wear one or i'd get her a pink one too.

I'm de-lurking too. I picked this blog up by chance late last year, and suffice to say I check it everyday.
I found myself feeling isolated from other diabetics, and isolating myself more, as the only other diabetics I know in 'real life' are about 30 years older than me. It's great to feel part of a community of people going through the same things - thank you for your blog and fantastic content.

Hi! I don't understand what Grand Rounds is. Can you fill me in?
Posted by: Nina | January 12, 2007 02:09 PM
I've wanted to delurk for some time - thank you for letting me out!
Posted by: Val | January 12, 2007 02:09 PM
Hi,
thank you for your blog, I read it every day.
Posted by: Sasha | January 12, 2007 02:20 PM
Didn't even know there was such a thing as a "lurker" before this. I guess I'm officially de-lurking. Thanks for the blog!
Posted by: Steph | January 12, 2007 02:56 PM
I always enjoy reading your blog, but sometimes I don't have the stamina to respond after a long day! You always have good insight though!

Hi Kerri
I think I found the original blogger that started de-lurking week. I've got the hyperlink on my blog at
http://www.bernardfarrell.com/blog/2007/01/national-de-lurking-week.
I basically Googled and then started following links to find where they pointed at. I hope I'm right.

Not de-lurking, but wanted to say hello to Steph with whom I'm acquainted outside of blogging. She's awesome!
And, Kerri, that cat is so damned cute. So very atypical looking.
:)

Keri,
I so appreciate your blog!! As a Dad, trying to make sense of things, the OC has been inspirational. You make me laugh and cry! And my wife is just about hooked, too.
Thank you!

Not a lurker, just a long-time fan.
Just wanted to let you know that Julia answered your question about where it all came from in my comments.
Posted by: Penny | January 12, 2007 04:40 PM
I am a frequent reader, but have never commented. I guess that makes me a lurker! My 8 year old daughter was diagnosed at age 5. Your entries and many of the others on the OC help me deal with the daily struggles of this disease. Thanks for all you do!!!!

I think it came from http://papernapkin.typepad.com/
That's where my googling led to. Of course I realised this on the 12th (ie: the last day of the 'event').

Just like a cat, I lurk and then I pounce!
I was a lurker for a while, but it was your blog that convinced me to come out and interact. I am enjoying a much richer experience for it.
Posted by: ChristineD | January 12, 2007 06:58 PM
Not technically a lurker since I have commented before, but I definitely read more often than I comment. But... hi!
Posted by: Sara | January 12, 2007 07:31 PM
Hi I admit I am a lurker! I visit every day via Rub Eyes When Needed!!
I will continue to check in and maybe comment more often :)
Posted by: Jenn | January 12, 2007 07:33 PM
OK, I'm guilty of lurking, with an occasional comment...but I have to read your blog. Besides your writing being laugh-out-loud funny or heartbreakingly sad (and hitting close to home), there's always pictures of Miss Sausage to look forward to!
:)

Must comment.
Siah told me to.
Siah says get treats.
Siah says feed cat.
Siah says...

of course i read! perhaps i'm a borderline lurker, but i don't mean to be :)

kitty!
Posted by: Rachel | January 13, 2007 10:02 AM
meow! and hello
Posted by: flutter | January 13, 2007 01:23 PM
Not actually de-lurking, as I have commented here before, but I do admit that many times I just read without commenting. The reason usually is that I would rather stay quiet if I don't have any constructive comments to make :-)
But, because of Siah, I will make an exception this time ;-)

I'm with DJPaul . . . what are Grand Rounds? Can someone explain?
Posted by: Kristin | January 13, 2007 02:30 PM
Read almost every day, but I'm not much for commenting
This blog is my favorite, laughing at diabetes makes it so much easier to live with
Thank you!

Hi Kerri,
I'm a lurker!!
Your blog is the best. You make me laugh and cry.
Thank you for helping me to deal with this disease.
Leslie :)

Hello, I linked to your blog from the children with diabetes web page. I am not understanding what Grand Rounds refers to? Love your blog, am a Mom of an 11 year old dx @ age 5 on the pump since age 6.
Posted by: Jeanine Lore | January 13, 2007 07:21 PM
I'm late to my own party on this one. :) Sorry for the delay!
Grand Rounds is a blog carnival where people who write medical blogs submit their posts to the host. The host then compiles The Best Of and highlights them in their post. Grand Rounds was started by Nicholas Genes of Blogborygmi and it's one of the biggest medical blog carnivals.
So ... the bottom line is, it's a big link-fest to some of the best medical blogs out there. :) Good times!
And thank you to each lurker to de-lurked. It's so nice to know you're out there. And to the Faithful Readers, you are fantastic, as always.

Not really de-lurking here, just saying "hi" and letting you know I'm still reading-- though, as usual, I'm a bit late. :-)

HELLO!!
Your website is in my daily routine, a shame it is not until this week I leave a note longer then a few words!!
My cat never woke me when I was low.....that is what convinced me that my cat was not fond of me...appreciated my roommate more...even tho I used to sneak it treats. No trustworthy cat, so I had to upgrade my pump to the Minimed 522. HA
Cheers,
Drea
